I hope this email finds you in good spirits. My name is Arlen Fuentes, I have been writing since I was right years old and yesterday, May 4th, I completed the manuscript for my first novel. I am overwhelmed with emotion at the moment and I don’t know what to do, in terms of the next step which is finding an editor and writing a query letter, as I would like to submit it an agent or an independent publisher. I have no clue as to where to begin, please help me. I need your expertise on what to do next. I would really appreciate all of the advice you can give me. This novel has been a long time coming, and I want to give myself the best shot on getting it published.
Hi Arlen! Congratulations on finishing your manuscript! That in itself is a huge accomplishment. I would definitely recommend giving it to some beta readers if you haven’t already. Here is a post I wrote about what to do once you’ve finished your manuscript. http://evalangston.com/2018/04/14/finish-your-manuscript/ I hope it’s helpful, and let me know if you have any other questions!
I’ve followed your advice, and my query is SO much stronger. Including the twist is a great selling feature, and I love how you described your comp titles. A hopeful writer, I’m grateful for your help as an established author.
Hello Eva,
Shadows Fade, my first completed novel will be published soon through Dorrance which is a Self- Publishing company. I would love to tell you about it. I also put together a poetry book entitled Symphonic Ritual, which I am self publishing on my own for the New York City Poetry Festival. My writing group and I have secured a table for the event. Please let me know if you are interested in hearing more.

Thanks so much! Best of luck to you, and let me know how it turns out!
