10 Simple Plot Exercises You Need to Do BEFORE You Write Your Novel!

What Is Ask a Youth?

Ask a Youth Interviews: Where YA and Middle Grade Writers Learn About Teens and Tweens

Rookie Magazine has a feature called “Ask a Grown” in which young people ask questions about love and life, and impressive grown-ups (like Hillary Clinton, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stephen Colbert, and Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys) answer them.

So I thought it would be cool to do something similar except adults would ask the questions and young people would answer them.  After all, if you’re writing a YA or Middle Grade book, you probably want to know what teens and tweens really think.  Ask a Youth interviews will get the youthful perspective we adult writers need to make better books for young people.

Check back soon for the very first interview!

Have a question you’d like a young person to answer?
